Coming this Fall

Moving!

I found a nice place right downtown, no more need for a car! Yeah sure it’s convenient, but at what cost, really? At some point, it’s not that much harder to just sit on a bus for an hour every day.

Teaching!

This will be my fourth or fifth year teaching, and my second year in a row teaching Web Techniques to Advertising students. I am not going to go on about how teaching is a “rewarding experience”. I think like all things, I’m good at it and I enjoy it to the point that I don’t really consider it “work”. I think the students enjoy it, I try to make things fun and interesting. I aim to teach them what I think can actually be useful to them, like how to plan and wireframe a website.

I’ve considered teaching them how to make a “modern” website. While I could spend the whole course trying to jam CSS into their brains, but it’s not really something they’ll use in the field. I’d rather teach them the basics using the Design mode in Dreamweaver and spend the rest of the time getting them to see the big picture of what a website actually is

Working!

It’s going to get busy at work, I can feel it. Now that the Summer is over (thanks for nothing, jerk!) people are starting to come back from vacation, and projects that have been on hold for a while are starting to ramp up again. There are some cool projects coming up soon, hopefully I’ll have some way of sharing that in the near future.

Conference…ing!

The Young Adult Cancer Canada Survivor Conference is coming up at the end of October! I’ll be all moved and settled in and then I get to travel to Newfoundland for this year’s conference!

It’s going to be a busy couple of months!
